GoboLinux 017.01: the most experimental Linux's first new release in about 5Y

A project's creator stepping down but having a successor is a strong good sign for the longevity of an open-source project. Whenever I see that transition happen, I think better about the project's long-term future.

Super excited to see this reviving! We need more exploration into Linux structure: this world of hundreds distros barely different by their desktop environments - is too borong.

I think the baton has been picked up by NixOS now.

NixOS is very cool that's for sure, I plan on returning to it once I feel prepared to deal with coding all the configs in.

The idea behind it is great, but not until they fix their horrendous tooling.

I wish they would combine the GoboLinux file structure with Gentoo Portage. Slotted packages in Gentoo seems so primitive compared to Gobo and Gobo would benefit a lot from having all the Portage packages.
