0-click exploitation of iMessage nickname feature revealed

It would seem that iMessage is an endless treasure trove of exploits. Is there any technical reason for this? Are iPhones simply more common among the wealther/powerful/influential? Or is this due to iMessage being present on all iPhones, whereas Android vendors can bundle their own SMS app?
